In Brief

Dembele leaves for Lyon. Boyata integrated in once more. Simunovic and Hendry both doubts. Compper and Morgan still injured. Mulumbu, Benkovic, and Okoflex all sign. Celtic looking for timely Old Firm boost.

Looking Back

Celtic are looking for a timely Old Firm boost this Sunday after confident 3-0 Europa League win over Suduva on Thursday night. It was a thoroughly impressive display, with the likes of Callum McGregor, Olivier Ntcham, and Michael Johnston all putting in starring performances.

Brendan Rodgers will be delighted with how his side reacted to the recent drama surrounding the club. The Hoops were never in any doubt against the Lithuanian Champions, and controlled the contest with minimal fuss.

Rangers arrive at Celtic Park under new management this Sunday. It's the first time Rodgers and Steven Gerrard have come face to face in the dugout. However, Celtic are unbeaten in all of Rodgers' 11 Old Firm matches.

Looking Ahead

Celtic will be without Old Firm talisman Moussa Dembele for the visit of Rangers. The Frenchman signed for Lyon for just under £20million on deadline-day, and this leaves Celtic with a massive gap to fill for Sunday.

Jack Hendry, and Jozo Simunovic are both doubts ahead of the weekend. Edouard is available however after training during the week and recovering from his earlier knock.

Marvin Compper and Lewis Morgan are still sidelined.

Celtic signed Youssouf Mulumbu, Filip Benkovic, and Armstrong Okoflex before the deadline. However, neither are too likely to feature on Sunday. Benkovic's arrival is also just a season-long loan deal from Leicester City.

Points of Interest

Celtic have scored in seven of their last eight matches. Haven't lost at Parkhead to Rangers since 2010.

Rangers

In Brief

Coulibaly a doubt. Barisic will return. Dorrans, Rossiter, and Murphy all still out. Grezda signs. Rangers looking for first Old Firm league win since 2012.

Looking Back

Steven Gerrard's Rangers will be elated after navigating all four Europa League qualifying ties. The Gers sealed progression thanks to a 1-1 draw in Russia against FC Ufa on Thursday night. It meant that the Ibrox side reached European group stage competition for the first time since 2010.

It was a heroic display on Thursday night. Alfredo Morelos and Jon Flanagan both picked up red cards to see Gerrard's side go down to nine men. This meant they had to defend for their lives as they fully merited their victory. Connor Goldson and Nikola Katic in particular impressed once more.

Rangers now face the daunting trip to Parkhead. In the last three Old Firm games alone, Rangers have managed to ship 12 goals.

Looking Ahead

Borna Barisic can return to the squad on Friday to provide some action down the left-hand side again. With the Croatian stalwart in there, Rangers always look more productive down that side. His return is a timely boost after being ineligible against Ufa in the Europa League.

Lassa Coulibaly's fitness continues to frustrate support. The Mali international has been a revelation since joining on loan from Angers in Ligue 1. However, his thigh knock has went on for longer than first anticipated, and he continues to be a doubt for Sunday.

Graham Dorrans, Jordan Rossiter, and Jamie Murphy will all sit out.

Eros Grezda has signed for the club from Croatian outfit NK Osijek. That's the same club Gerrard plucked Barisic from, but an appearance this weekend from Grezda is highly unlikely.

Points of Interest

Rangers have lost nine of the last 11 Old Firm games. Are now unbeaten in 12 competitive matches under Steven Gerrard. 14 including two friendlies.
