Internazionale

In Brief

Inter keep winning: a 2-1 away success over SPAL. Aiming at taking all three points also from the home derby against Milan. Brozovic should be fine. Vecino also in the squad.

Looking Back

Even though they had a slow start against SPAL on the road, Inter managed to take the lead but failed to kill the match off despite holding some opportunities. In fact, they actually risked being reached to a draw, as the home side also wasted a penalty kick. And they eventually had to concede in the second half but they proved capable of an immediate reaction, as they scored a final winner.

Icardi scored once and caused an own goal by SPAL, proving that he is still fundamental for the team. Handanovic made at least two decisive saves. Vecino played a good match, being dangerous on all set pieces. Miranda holds responsibilities for the goal conceded and for causing the penalty kick. Keita failed to make anything memorable despite a rare starting chance.

Looking Ahead

Inter continue their march on the third place and they will next aim at taking all three points from the home derby against Milan.

Brozovic had to sit the last game out due to a muscular issue and he should be fully available for this one. Vecino is also in the 23-man squad despite fatigue.

D'Ambrosio and Vrsaljko are contending at right-back. Gagliardini could be preferred to Vecino in the middle of the park, as he is ineligible at a European level. Candreva or Keita could be considered instead of Politano as a winger.

Points of Interest

Inter hosted Milan 84 times: he won 31 and drew 30, while losing 23. On the whole, they scored 117 goals and conceded 110. Since 2005, they lost only once against the Devils.

Milan

In Brief

Milan had an easy time at home against Chievo Verona: they won 3-1. Expected by a tough away derby against Inter. Strinic and Montolivo should miss out. Conti with the group but will not be considered. Romagnoli and Cutrone overcame slight doubts. Caldara trying to recover on time.

Looking Back

Profiting from Chievo Verona passive attitude, Milan immediately took the initiative, creating several scoring chances. Having taken a 2-goal lead, they went on attacking also in the second half, when they scored also a third goal. Then, they started slowing their rhythm down and so they found themselves conceding once but did not have to worry any further.

Higuain scored two more goals: he is the new leader of the team. Suso feels at ease with the Argentinean and he served him two assists. Biglia is always in the right place at the right time. Kessie holds some responsibilities for giving the way to Chievo Verona goal. Calhanoglu made too many mistakes and he did not look bright enough.

Looking Ahead

Milan won the last 2 Serie A games played and they are currently sitting among the top 10, with one game still in their hands. They are next expected by a tough away derby against high-flying Inter.

The longtime injured Strinic and Montolivo should still be missing out while Caldara could return. Conti has resumed regular training and he could return anytime soon: however, he should join the junior team for the next couple of weeks. Romagnoli and Cutrone have overcome muscular issues and they should be fine.

Calabria should be preferred to Abate at right-back. Rodriguez should prevail over Laxalt at left-back.

Points of Interest

Milan scored more than two goals against Inter on the road only once in the last 15 years. In that stretch of time, they failed to score any goals in 4 occasions while they did not concede only 3 times.
