In Brief

Fundamental 3-1 comeback win over Napoli in the domestic league. Undisputable Serie A leaders. Won all the games played so far. Aiming at a further success, at home to Young Boys Bern. Douglas Costa, De Sciglio and Spinazzola out. Khedira returns. Ronaldo serving a 1-game ban.

Looking Back

Juventus were put under heavy pressure by Napoli at home and they actually found themselves going one goal down. Their reaction was a vehement one, though, as they managed to overturn the result, scoring 3 goals and also going 1 man up. The visitors tried fighting until the end but Juventus were way too powerful for them.

Even though he did not score any goals, Ronaldo initiated all 3 Juventus goals, thus leading the charge. Mandzukic scored two heavy goals, equalising first and then giving his side the lead. Matuidi kept attacking all opponents and running, from the beginning to the end. Pjanic made the difference in the middle of the park.

Looking Ahead

Juventus have won all the 8 games played so far in the season. They will now aim at continuing winning in occasion of the home clash against Young Boys Bern.

The longtime injured Spinazzola is ineligible.

De Sciglio and Khedira have been sitting the last games out through injuries but the latter makes it back to the 20-man squad. Douglas Costa should also be missing through injury.

Ronaldo will be serving 1 game under suspension after picking up a red card against Valencia in round 1.

Coach Allegri has some doubts regarding what formation adopting for this one. He could rely on a back three with Bernardeschi acting in the midfield or as an attacking midfielder.

Can could represent an alternative to Bentancur in the middle of the park.

Points of Interest

This is the first time Juventus host Young Boys Bern ever. So far, Juventus hosted only 2 Swiss sides, both in Champions League games: they beat Basel 4-0 in December 2002 and Grasshopper Zurich 2-0 in October 1984.

Young Boys Bern

Last updated: Tue 02 October 2018 07:49
In Brief

A rotated Young Boys side claimed a 4:1 derby win over Thun. Any group they collect in this group would be seen as a success. Djibril Sow and Kevin Mbabu are hoping to return.

Looking Back

With Young Boys playing three domestic games in a week, there was little surprise when Gerardo Seoane opted to rotate in his side's derby game against Thun. His men still managed to claim a 4:1 win and make it nine wins in nine domestically.

The Berners now turn their attentions towards the Champions League, where they suffered a 3:0 defeat against Manchester United in their opener, but were not as poor as the final result suggested.

It is an excellent result for the Berners to have even made the group stage of the competition. Given the strength of the sides they are in the group with, any point they collect would be seen as a success.

Looking Ahead

No new injuries or bans were suffered against Thun, but the lineup that will feature in Turin is set to be much different to the one that played the Oberlanders. Guillaume Hoarau and Steve Von Bergen are among those that are set to be recalled.

Djibril Sow and Kevin Mbabu have been carrying injuries lately and duo will be hoping to recover in time to make the squad.

Points of Interest

This will be Young Boys' first-ever Champions League group stage away game. The 2:1 win they claimed in the second leg of their play-off clash with Dinamo Zagreb ended their thirteen-game run without a continental away win.
