Middlesbrough

Last updated: Sat 05 January 2019 07:57
In Brief

Boro draw at Derby last time out. Sam McQueen injured. Ryan Shotton and Aden Flint doubtful. Martin Braithwaite departs. Rajiv van La Parra signs.

Looking Back

Picked up a 1-1 draw at Derby last time out, a reasonable result.

Struggled for consistency lately with just two wins in five matches.

Have allowed Martin Braithwaite to leave the club, joining Leganes on loan. That could well free up additional budget for Tony Pulis to bring in extra players. One of those is Rajiv van La Parra who has signed on loan from Huddersfield and available to play for first time.

Looking Ahead

Aden Flint was injured in the warm-up on Tuesday and is a major doubt along with Ryan Shotton.

Sam McQueen remains a long-term absentee.

Pulis has not treated cup competitions seriously in his Boro tenure so could well make changes for this game.

Points of Interest

Have six wins, four draws and three losses on home soil this term.

Peterborough United

In Brief

Suffered a 2:0 home defeat in the hands of Scunthorpe. Jamie Walker departs. Ryan Tafazolli and Callum Cooke are doubtful. Marcus Maddison is banned. Daniel Lafferty signs.

Looking Back

Peterborough's abysmal home form continued, as they struggled to make things happen and suffered a 2:0 home defeat in the hands of Scunthorpe.

The Posh started the season like a runaway train but have been poor lately and have slid out of the play-off places as a consequence.

Looking Ahead

Jamie Walker has left the club, as the Posh opted against extending his loan stay.

However, a new signing has been completed in Daniel Lafferty, who signs on loan from Sheffield United.

Callum Cooke and Ryan Tafazolli are doubtful with an illness and injury, respectively.

Marcus Maddison will have to sit this one out. The in-form winger is suspended.

Points of Interest

Peterborough have faced Boro seven times in the 21st century and are yet to win, having recorded four draws and three defeats. This will be their first meeting with Middlesbrough since 2013.
