Game Report

Highlights

LA Galaxy's losing streak extended to four games with another below-par attacking display as they were blanked out in a 0-1 defeat at home to Colorado Rapids.

Detail

The hosts were missing Ibrahimovic due to suspension but handed a debut start for Favio Alvarez who was central to all of the best attacking moves for LA in the opening stages as he forced a couple of good saves out of Howard

The best chance of the opening half hour though fell to Colorado when a quick counter saw Lewis free inside the box but the attacker was not able to get his effort on target

LA did end the first half on a strong note with Boateng having a goal-bound effort clear off the line while Alvarez and Gonzalez both also went close to breaking the deadlock.

Chances continued to flow at either end after the break with Antuna and Feltscher both wasting excellent opportunities while Kamara directed a free header wide of the target

Polenta was denied by the woodwork on the hour mark before Gonzalez came up with a crucial clearance at the other end to deny Nicholson before Kamara also hit the woodwork as the game opened up in the final half hour of the match

Just when it looked neither side would be able to make their chances count, Colorado managed to find the breakthrough eight minutes from time with Shinyashiki converting the rebound following a quick counter and Colorado held on to their narrow lead to return home with all three points.

Summary

A bit of a harsh result with LA creating their share of chances but lacked the clinical touch in front of the goal and had to pay the price by conceding a late winner.
