Game Report

Highlights

Leeds moved up to 3rd as they benefitted from Josh Brownhill's sending off to see off Bristol City. City were well in the game until Brownhill was dismissed 10 minutes after the break. Kemar Roofe and Pablo Hernandez then netted for Marcelo Bielsa's side. City have now lost four games in a row and have now dropped down to 14th as a result.

Detail

There was big team news for Leeds with Will Huffer starting in goal and Aapo Hulme at the back, Bielsa being brave enough to play youngsters to fill in for injured players. City gave a debut to Hakeeb Adelakun while Lloyd Kelly, Niclas Eliasson and Jamie Paterson also started.

This was a poor quality game in the first half with few chances for either side. City may have held their own but offered very little going forward as well.

Undoubtedly the major moment of the game came on 55 minutes as Brownhill suffered a second yellow card as he fouled Roofe.

Leeds well and truly made the extra man count. They took the lead just 14 minutes later as Roofe scored from close range for his eighth of the campaign.

The Whites sealed victory four minutes from time as Samuel Saiz set up Hernandez who finished well.

Leeds could have won by a bigger margin in the end with Jack Harrison and Ezgjan Alioski both missing from good positions.

Summary

The red card was key in this but City offered little in attack, an obvious area of weakness at the moment. Leeds had to be patient but took their chances. Bielsa will also be pleased his debutants came through this game having been thrown in at the deep end.
