Game Report

Highlights

Derby and Nottingham Forest shared a goalless draw and that was probably the right result in a competitive East Midlands derby where both defences excelled. They both looked solid enough and showed why they are both in promotion contention. Forest remain 7th in the table as a result of this point while Derby are now 4th.

Detail

The team line-ups demonstrated the confidence both managers had in their sides at the moment. Derby were unchanged while Forest made just one change as Saidy Janko came in for Matty Cash with Ben Osborn playing further forward.

Lewis Grabban had a few early chances for Forest but it was Derby who exerted some authority on the game and should have had a penalty when Tendayi Darikwa appeared to foul Tom Lawrence in the area.

Grabban and the impressive Joe Lolley replied for Forest either side of the break with Derby indebted to decent stops from keeper Scott Carson.

Lawrence and Harry Wilson both had efforts for Derby in the second half but Forest looked the more likely as the game wore on and Lolley was desperately unlucky to see his shot hit the bar after a lovely passing move had set up the chance.

Summary

This was a fair result. Derby will be frustrated not to have earned a first half penalty which looked like one. They will be a little disappointed they could not offer more in attack. Forest again impressed with Lolley the standout player and he was unlucky not to score the winner. Both sides though looked competitive and will surely be in the mix at the end of the campaign.
