Game Report

Highlights

West Brom claimed a straightforward 2-0 win at Bolton although this was not their most fluent performance of the season. Albion are now up to 3rd after scoring in the first half through Jay Rodriguez before adding a second through Sam Field. Bolton, who had protests against their owner before the game from fans, remain in the relegation zone and are now three points from safety.

Detail

Bolton made changes with Jack Hobbs, Andy Taylor, Gary O'Neil and Clayton Donaldson all starting. West Brom opted to name an unchanged starting eleven.

West Brom took the lead on 19 minutes as Rodriguez headed in on the goal-line after Craig Dawson's header on from a set piece. It was Rodriguez's 14th of the season, matching the tally of strike partner Dwight Gayle.

The Baggies will feel they should have added further goals, the pick of the chances coming when a Gayle free kick clipped the bar.

Bolton offered very little by way of response as they struggled to get a way back into the game. West Brom, who had lost Chris Brunt to a first half injury, went on to wrap the points up 15 minutes from the end as Field, on as Brunt's replacement rounded off a well-worked move with a fine finish.

Summary

This was only West Brom's fourth league clean sheet of the season and it will be a most pleasing win for Darren Moore. They will now look to keep up the pressure on the top two. Bolton will be disappointed with a display where they offered very little in attack yet again. They have now failed to score in 15 league games this term.
