Game Report

Highlights

Huddersfield claimed a first win under Danny Cowley and a first win of the season to put even further pressure on Stoke boss Nathan Jones. Juninho Bacuna scored the only goal of the game late on as the Terriers showed their improvement.

Detail

Jones once again made changes, most significantly in goal as Adam Federici was preferred to the out of form Jack Butland. Huddersfield named an unchanged side with Cowley already showing signs of influencing his team who had previously been struggling.

Stoke had more possession but struggled to create much in the way of goalscoring chances with their attack once again misfiring.

Cameron Carter-Vickers and Joe Allen had the best moments for the Potters but they did not look comfortable at all and Huddersfield's defence had a straightforward evening.

This looked to be heading to a goalless draw when sub Bacuna played a one-two with Adama Diakhaby before firing in superbly. It was a fine move and deserved to settle the game.

Summary

Huddersfield are an improving side and this was a notable result for them. Cowley appears to be making his mark. Stoke are in a mess and Jones' position is starting to become untenable it would seem.
