Game Report

Highlights

Stevenage claimed their first league win at Broadhall Way in eleven months with a comfortable 3-0 win over a sorry Oldham Athletic. Midfielder Elliot Osborne scored his first career goal to break the deadlock on the hour and goals from full-back Luther Wildin-James and centre-back Luke Prosser wrapping up a deserved win for Boro'.

Detail

The opening hour of this contest was hard-fought with Stevenage having slightly the better of it. The visitors hadn't brought their shooting boots with them; leaving home goalkeeper Jamie Cumming untroubled.

The same couldn't be said for opposite number Ian Lawlor, who was in for a busy afternoon. He had already kept out efforts from striker Danny Newton and midfielder Arthur Read before finally being beaten on the hour.

The goal came following a neat-move with midfielder Elliott List pulling the ball back for name-sake Osborne to notch his first career goal.

Lawlor then saved striker Inih Effiong's penalty after defender Carl Piergianni had bundled over defender Scott Cuthbert in the box. Moments later however Wildin-James seized on some dreadful defending to fire home a second.

The Latics were now being run ragged and they were caught napping at a set-piece; Prosser powering home a header from Osborne's inviting corner to complete the scoring.

Summary

Alex Revell will be delighted with this win which will give his new-look side confidence. The same can't be said for Harry Kewell however, whose side fell apart after conceding the first goal.
