Augsburg beat Hoffenheim 4:2, mainly thanks to 3 goals in second half, including penalty. Hoffenheim temporarily managed to pull one back but Iago quickly sealed win with late 4:2.
Hoffenheim tried to dominate match from beginning, however, Augsburg had better opportunities, trying to hit them on the break. First, Niederlechner missed narrowly, shortly after, he served Max who scored.
Not for long and Hoffenheim struck back: Skov converted after serve by Rudy from range. Hoffenheim continued to dominate possession but still struggled with precision and speed when on the attack.
Towards end of first half, pressure on Augsburg increased by the minute as brilliant Grillitsch played great, sharp passes to the wings. Koubek had to save vs Bebou.
Augsburg's counterattacking football more successful in second half despite Hoffenheim dominance. First, Akpoguma's foul led to penalty, converted by Max. Within minutes, they were 3:1 up as a long pass by yet again Niederlechner reached Jensen who beat Baumann.
Still, Locadia managed to get one back via header, yet Augsburg responded quickly: Niederlechner exploited space on the wing to cross to Iago, who converted.
Augsburg won deservedly as they weren't not dominant but effective, also carried by amazing Niederlechner who was credited with a rare 4 assists, while Hoffenheim struggled to translate effort into goals.
