Game Report

Highlights

A Riyad Mahrez brace gave a clinical Manchester City a 2-0 victory over an Mbappe-less Paris Saint-Germain, who were toothless in attack and went down to 10 men following Angel Di Maria's sending off after conceding the second.

Detail

PSG took the initiative in the first few minutes, but Manchester City managed to convert their first chance in the game into a goal through Mahrez on the counter.

Aware that they needed to score twice to go through anyway, PSG didn't change their plan, pushed for an equaliser, but were unlucky to hit the crossbar through Marquinhos.

City didn't create any other clear chance in the first 45 minutes and PSG didn't either, as they struggled to create danger in front of the hosts' goal due to Kylian Mbappe's absence and Fernandinho's excellent defending on Neymar.

PSG piled the pressure on Manchester City in the second half, but the hosts hit on the counter again with Mahrez scoring a second and practically securing qualification to the final.

PSG players were clearly frustrated after conceding the second and as had happened in the first leg too, they went down to 10 players when Di Maria was shown a straight red card.

If anything, it was Manchester City who could have scored a third but Phil Foden hit the post.

Summary

Well-deserved victory for Manchester City who were not dominant in this game, but were clinical in front of goal on the counter against a PSG side, who struggled to create in attack and had no shots on target.
