In Brief

PSG’s last action of any sort against Chelsea a month ago. No selection issues of note.

Looking Back

PSG have only been in pre-season training for a week, having returned to work last Wednesday after going all the way to the Club World Cup final, where they lost to Chelsea.

While Luis Enrique’s side have generally coped well with their heavy schedule, the weight of matches finally seemed to catch up with them against the Blues, who had far easier runs in Europe and the Club World Cup.

Squad has not changed significantly over the course of the summer months, with consistency something the club is clearly seeking after a stellar campaign.

Looking Ahead

Lack of match sharpness could be a major issue in this encounter. Not only have PSG not played any competitive games for a month, they have not even played a friendly.

Lucas Chevalier expected to start in goal after arriving from Lille. Gianluigi Donnarumma heading for the bench.

No selection problems noted.

In Brief

Two wins in six pre-season games. Thomas Frank replaced Ange Postecoglou. Kept backbone intact. Kota Takai, Radu Dragusin, Dejan Kulusevski, Bryan Gil, James Maddison and Manor Solomon are sidelined. Destiny Udogie and Dominic Solanke are doubtful.

Looking Back

Ended a 17-year silverware drought by winning the Europa League, but recorded an embarrassing 22 EPL losses, finished 17th in the table and collected only 38 points, their lowest return in a single term.

Hit by numerous injuries throughout last term. They've also had several issues in pre-season.

Two wins, three draws and one loss in pre-season. Fielded a strong XI that was thrashed by Bayern Munich (4-0) on Thursday. Defence looked solid in the previous games.

Frank replaced Postecoglou. Could be the perfect fit. Enjoys working with young players and has been able to stick to his preferred 4-2-3-1.

They've kept their spine intact. Winger Mohammed Kudus and midfielder Joao Palhinha the biggest signings - expected to become starters. Could add more depth.

Looking Ahead

Starting striker Solanke is doubtful. Featured in just one friendly on July 17. Either Richarlison or Mathys Tel could fill in - didn't impress in pre-season.

Starting left-back Udogie is a doubt. Featured in just one friendly on July 17. A solid Djed Spence could fill in.

Starting midfielder Kulusevski is sidelined. Missed pre-season preparations. Pape Matar Sarr could start - stood out in friendlies.

Starting midfielder Maddison is sidelined long term after suffering injury in pre-season. Spurs have depth in midfield, but he's their best creating midfielder.

Backup defender Dragusin is sidelined long term. Hasn't played since January.

Squad players Takai, Gil and Solomon are sidelined.
