Football Season Review

№6: Bohemians

Bohemians were once again among the sides that finished the Ireland Premier League inside the midtable places, with no real hope of battling for an European place and no real threat of going down. The Bohs, who are owned by their fans, are a stable club built on continuity and, unlike most other sides that finished in midtable, were happy with how they have done and signed a contract extension with their boss Keith Long at the end of the season. It was yet another campaign in which the Bohs displayed the values that they are known for, as they were a well-organized, attacking-minded side with no heavy dependence on any particular player. Their goal was always to stay far away from danger and they never looked to be under any real threat of going down. They started the season rather slowly but got better over time and played their best football in late stages, when they recorded a five-game winning streak and lost only one of their final ten matches of the season. The Bohs could have even qualified for Europe. A late goal took their FAI Cup semifinal game against Cork to a replay, which the Rebel Army won with a 2:1 scoreline to reach the final, where they were beaten by Dundalk. All in all, the Bohs have met their modest goals and played some entertaining football along the way, so they will be very pleased with the season they have had.
