Sneaked into the top 3 last season thanks to their excellent defence. Only champions Chelsea conceded fewer than United’s 16 goals. Ended up a point above their city rivals and won the bronze. Norwegian striker Elisabeth Terland was solid. She finished third in the Golden Boot race with her 10 WSL goals last season. Her teammate Phallon Tullis-Joyce shared the Golden Glove award though. The American goalie kept 13 clean sheets in 20 appearances. Keeping all of their main players for now, no major departures. This should guarantee more solid defending. Captain Maya Le Tissier has really organised the back four very well. The two main new signings so far were DM Olme and experienced winger/full-back Fridolina Rolfö. The Swedish star can play in any position on the left flank so she will be useful. Man United had 3 players in the Team of the Year, not surprisingly those were the goalkeeper Tullis-Joyce and defensive duo Le Tissier – Riviera. Toone, Naaslund and Miyazawa didn’t show enough creativity in midfield. This is the main area that needs to do better going forward. Youngster Clinton should be helping a lot for that. Age just 21 she scored 8 WSL goals last season, so an even better season for her can be expected now.

Target

Another top 3 finish is expected. It will be hard to achieve it.
