Mediocre last season W11 D7 L4. Stayed full 9 points behind 3rd place. Never in real contention for the medals. Had issues in attack. No United player scored more than 6 goals in the league. The one good thing was the memorable Champions League campaign. Debutants in the group stage, made it all the way to the ¼ finals. After such an average campaign felt that change at the top is the way forward. After 5 years in charge coach Skinner was released. Replaced by the exciting young Spanish specialist Eva Olid. She’s only 41 and with no experience outside Spain. She bring progressive ideas though and a lot of know-how in terms of how Europe’s best team Barcelona operate. It has been a quiet summer so far. GK Leitzig and LB Medina the only new signings. Medina could become a regular. Lost several solid players and the squad looks much smaller right now. The departures of CB Turner, CM Naaslund and aggressive striker Malard weaken every area of the pitch. There will be no Champions League football this season so this should help. Also, United bought some players last winter and they will try to use them more this term. CF Lea Schüller and winger Ellen Wangerheim expected to play a lot more often this season. Both are direct forwards and offer the option to play in transition more often. AM Jess Park the only United player to make the Best 11 last season. She will continue to play a key role. Should be supported much better by Toone, had a short last season due to a nasty knee injury.

Target

Making the top 3 is the goal minimum. Might struggle. Lack depth.
