Difficult last season saw Tottenham finish in the penultimate 11th spot. They stayed full 10 points above the relegated Crystal Palace but had the 2nd fewest wins W5 D5 L12. Beth England’s goals (8 in the WSL) were vital for the Lillywhites. Especially, with her partner in attack Martha Thomas going an entire season without a single goal. After the difficult campaign HC Robert Vilahamn’s 2-year period in charge ended. Young manager Martin Ho (35) is the new HC. He is yet to get the chance to make major transfer moves. The only new arrival so far is young Japanese defender Koga. At 19 she’s seen as someone for the future. There has been no major departures either so it seems despite the tough last season Tottenham will trust the same core. It makes sense with no relegation from the WSL this season. The league is expanding to 14 teams from 2026/27 so even the team in last place will likely survive via a playoff vs the 3rd placed team in the Championship. For Tottenham the most urgent matter is to revive Martha Thomas. Just 2 years ago the Scottish striker finished as runner-up in the Golden Boot race. Even if she scores just 5-6 goals this season, this added to England’s inevitable contributions should be enough to give Tottenham a higher finish. Finnish midfielders Olga Ahtinen and Eveliina Summanen need to stay healthy. When they play Tottenham rarely lose against the teams outside the Big 4. Danish AM Olivia Holdt showed promise after joining in the winter. Her versatility makes her a great asset. Defenders Hunt, Nilden and Bartrip were unconvincing last season. They have to prove they can do better.
