Arsenal finished last season a respectable third in the Barclays Premier League table and also lifted the FA Cup following a comprehensive victory at Wembley against Aston Villa. The Gunners approach the new season looking in good shape in almost every department. Petr Cech has joined from city rivals Chelsea and is expected to be Arsene Wenger's first choice keeper. Apart from that, despite having money to spend, Arsenal have so far been quiet in the transfer market. Overall the squad looks strong, but they could perhaps do with a striker that can net twenty goals a season. It remains to be seen if Olivier Giroud will be up to this task. Wenger's midfield options are immense. They have improved in defence in recent seasons but in games against the other top clubs they probably need to keep things a little tighter at the back.

Target

Wenger has already stated that winning the league is the aim and feels that his side will be genuine title contenders. A place in the last eight of the Champions League is also high on the list of priorities.
