Having won the Challenge League last season, they were promoted to the Super League, where they haven't been for a few years now. Motivation levels in the Super League can sometimes be questionable for them as they're not able to attain a European place via where they finish due to being from another country, Liechtenstein. Having won the FL1 Active Cup (in Lichtenstein), they have qualified for the Conference League. They will not be in it for long because they're not good enough but it will pose certain challenges for them at the start of the campaign as they don't have a big enough squad to rotate effectively. On one hand, it's a good time to be promoted. FC Thun, who were promoted from the Challenge League two seasons ago, won the Super League last season. The quality in the Super League is not what it was. On the other hand, they look ill-equipped to handle this level. Their biggest problem will be in attack. They've taken some very safe shots in that regard, bringing Dejan Djokic "home", and acquiring veteran striker Sorgic from the division below. They've taken a punt on Akhalaia and Neelakandan too - desperate shots from a desperate club. It's unclear how that'll go, but they'll need time to adjust if nothing else. They've done some good business in midfield, adding very promising youngsters like Walker and Dalipi on loan as well as Cabrera. They will not be short of energy nor industry because of it, despite the departure of Ronaldo Dantas Fernandes. Their defence looks average at best though, making the pressure on their already unconvincing attack even more intense. Simani is supposed to be the heart of it but he had his shot at the Super League before now, and was binned off because his discipline was nowhere near what it should have been. In truth, this entire squad is largely comprised of players that have failed at this level. That may not mean they will all continue to do so, but it is indicative of where they're at, and what is likely to transpire as a result of assembling such. The likelihood is that this team will start slowly, given their injuries in midfield, and then struggle to survive relegation.
