Leicester City won promotion to the Premier League last season by finishing top of the Championship. They amassed a very impressive 102 points in total and netted 83 times in 46 games. In the end they were nine points clear of second placed Burnley. Leicester looked worthy favourites right from the start of the season and played some great football throughout. Having suffered Play Off heartbreak the previous season, manager Nigel Pearson ensured his side did not feel sorry for themselves and instead ensured they improved considerably. As with any team facing their first season in the top flight, Leicester have a very tough task on their hands. The club seem to have a solid financial base to work from, but Pearson has not been as active in the transfer market as was perhaps expected. The squad looks very light on Premier League experience. The likes of Anthony Knockaert, Kasper Schmeichel and Matty James have plenty of potential, but will need to adapt to the power and pace of the Premier League quickly. David Nugent was a key figure last season and scored goals galore, but will no doubt find it tougher against better defences and will certainly not be presented with as many chances.

Target

Top flight survival is the name of the game for Leicester this season. A good start to the season and solid home form could be key.
