Tottenham Hotspur almost went all the way in the Premier League last season but the end result proved to be no different from previous campaigns as they only just held on to a third place finish to secure a place in the Champions League group stages. Tottenham played some brilliant football over the course of the season and at one time looked unlikely favorites to tip Leicester City to the league title but a dip in form in the final weeks not only brought a premature end to their title challenge, but they also failed to hold their nerve and finish above Arsenal for the first time in more than two decades. Coach Mauricio Pochettino apologized to the fans for the poor end to the season, especially their heavy 1-5 thrashing to a relegated Newcastle United side, and will clearly feel that it was a missed opportunity for his side to create history. Pochettino will be looking to go one better this season and Spurs have done well to keep the player turnover to a minimum following a busy summer last time around. Alex Pritchard spent the second half of last season on loan at West Brom and the midfielder has moved on with Spurs selling him off to Norwich City while Federico Fazio is off on another loan spell, this time to Italy's AS Roma. It is the two new arrivals though that are raising the buzz at White Hart Lane with Victor Wanyama linking back up with Pochettino three years after the Argentine had brought him to Southampton from Celtic. AZ Alkmaar striker Vincent Janssen has also been signed to relieve the goal-scoring load on Harry Kane who enjoyed another brilliant campaign last season. Pochettino clearly has faith in his existing players to mount another challenge for the top spot and with players such as Heung-Min Son yet to play to their true potential, Spurs will be in the mix for at least another top four finish this season

Target

Another title challenge could prove to be too much on face of heavy strengthening of their rivals but should be favorites to secure at least a top four finish
