Yeovil Town start the new season with a sense of hope following the appointment of Darren Way last December. The Glovers have been on a downward spiral for the last three years since being promoted to the Championship for the first time in their history in 2013. They subsequently suffered back-to-back relegations which saw club legend Gary Johnson sacked and replaced by Paul Sturrock. He fared little bitter having made a whole host of changes to his squad last summer, with more than 20 players leaving the club. They made a dreadful start to the season and won just two of their opening twenty league matches. He was sacked at the beginning of December after the side slumped to the bottom of the table and he was replaced by coach Darren Way. He immediately improved performances, losing just one in ten matches, and by mid-March had climbed up to the giddy heights of 19th place in the table, which is where they eventually finished. Way has brought calm and composure to deepest, darkest Somerset and has been working quietly and patiently over the summer. He has been dealt a blow with the decision of midfielder Ben Tozer to join Newport County and relied heavily on loan players last season. He has already re-signed defender Liam Shephard and midfielder Ryan Hedges on loan from Swansea City for the season. Defender Josh Ezewele has joined from West Bromwich Albion, midfielder Joe Lea has arrived from Southampton whilst striker Tom Eaves has signed from Bolton Wanderers. Player of the season Artur Krysiak will continue between the sticks after signing a new deal, as has defender Ryan Dickson and striker Francois Zoko. The Glovers ought to be comfortably clear of any relegation battle this time around and might surprise a few people at the opposite end.

Target

The Glovers have enough to be comfortably mid-table this season and could even be outside shout for the play-off spots.
