Football Season Review

№9: Livingston

Early on the season threatened to turn chaotic for Livingston. Kenny Miller left the club just two weeks into the season, but Gary Holt's arrival saw Livi reach the dizzy heights of the top half. Under Holt, the Lions gained a reputation of being physical, energetic, and competent on the ball. They consistently rose to the challenge of playing big teams too. This season alone, Livi have beaten Rangers and earned two sensational draws with Celtic. In the end, their form slumped throughout the final third of the season. Just one win in their final nine games left Holt's men with a ninth place finish. Where Livi have struggled is their consistency, however. In big games, they had a habit of being ridiculously energetic and in opponents' faces. Shaun Byrn, Keaghan Jacobs, and Scott Pittman were particularly aggressive, and never gave opposition flair players time on the ball. Unfortunately, they succumbed to a lack of consistency as they found themselves struggling to cope with the increasingly hectic Premiership card. Next term Holt will be hoping Livi find the spark they showed in the first half of the season. Craig Halkett will leave the club this summer as Player of the Season, but Livi will have to combat losing big players this summer and replacing them adequately.
