Football Season Review

№2: Rangers

Steven Gerrard arrived at Rangers with real intrigue about how he was going to revolutionise the club. And, despite a rollercoaster season, supporters will go into the summer buoyed as they now sit substantially closer to Celtic in both points and performances. It hasn't all been great for Gerrard. The cup competitions have seen Rangers bow out twice to Aberdeen without even reaching a final. Added to that, some inconsistency in both results and team selection has meant that Rangers haven't had the season they may have done. Gerrard has finally managed to find the formula that could work for them heading into next year. The 4-3-3 with new signings Glen Kamara, Scott Arfield, and Steven Davis in the engine room looks a treat. Ryan Jack has also added the steel required to provide cause for optimism. The highlight of the year for Rangers was undoubtedly beating Celtic twice at Ibrox. Both matches were no contests, and only one out of four meetings were they totally outmatched by the champions. Helped by Alfredo Morelos' 30 goals, Rangers go into the season having won six of their final seven games. If they continue that run into next season, it's going to be an exciting campaign for them. Deadwood, however, will need cleared over the summer, whilst some new additions at the back and up top are necessities.
