Football Season Review

№11: Watford

Watford had their best ever Premier League season under the expert guidance of coach Gracia, with the Hornets also contesting their first FA Cup final in 35 years at the end of the campaign. From the off the signs were good with Watford starting the campaign with 4 consecutive wins, including victory over Tottenham. This was enough not just to keep Watford out of trouble for the rest of the season, but only in the final round did they drop out of the top 10 after spending 32 of the 38 weeks in the top half of the table. Still the points tally that was accumulated was by far the highest Watford have ever achieved in the Premier League. On top of all that some heroic comebacks in the FA Cup saw Watford reaching the final for only the second time in their history. Unfortunately the match for the trophy vs. City was badly lost 0:6. Many players had good campaigns and deserve mentioning, but the one that had almost always a positive impact when on the pitch was crafty forward Deulofeu. The little Spaniard definitely looked like someone around whom the team for next season could be built. Watford are expected to lose in the summer at least 2-3 of the players that impressed, but Deulofeu should stay. Also Gracia and many others confirmed their commitment to the club, which suggests that another solid campaign in and around the top half of the table can be expected.

Player of the Season: Gerard Deulofeu
