Football Season Review

№14: West Bromwich Albion

This was Tony Pulis' first full season in charge at the Hawthorns and although there was a feel good factor around the club in pre-season, Pulis was always keen to stress that the priority for the club was to once again avoid relegation, and that anything after that was a bonus. The Baggies never really looked likely to get involved in a relegation battle this season, but at the same time were never that many points clear of the drop zone either. At the half way point they were thirteenth in the table - but just three points clear of the bottom three. Throughout the season they never got into any type of stride and a couple of good performances and results on the trot were all they could manage before returning to defeats or scrappy draws. Come the end of the campaign they six points clear of the relegation zone. West Brom struggled to create chances and score goals, hitting the back of the net just thirty four times all season long. The standout performers tended to be their hard working solid players, while the likes of Saido Berahino and Jose Rondon were very inconsistent.
