It will not be easy to repeat the extraordinary previous season when they made the home double, winning League and KNVB Cup and, against all odds, reached the Champions League semifinals. A bitter end here as they were condemned by a goal suffered in the last minute of the second leg with Tottenham. However remain the extraordinary feats to have eliminated two European football giants like Real Madrid and Juventus. It will be difficult, especially because two of last season's key players left, De Jong moved to Barcelona and De Ligt to Juventus. Replace their playmaker and their captain as well as best defender, will be a very difficult task. However the Lancers will always be able to rely on their extraordinary youth sector from which to draw some new talent. Moreover at the helm of the team remains coach Ten Hag who knows his players very well. As for the transfer campaign, the club purchased young Romanian Marin to replace De Jong, at least on paper it would seem to be his ideal heir. Another interesting market move is the return to Amsterdam after many years of striker Quincy Promes. At least at the moment something would seem to be missing to the squad, especially in defence where De Ligt's departure has not yet been filled.

Target

As for the goals, they will surely be the favorites, along with PSV, for the national title and the KNVB cup. It will undoubtedly be more difficult in Europe where now the surprise factor will also be missing.
