The past season Fortuna Sittard reached their goal of avoiding relegation, a good achievement considering they were a newly promoted team. Despite this, something more was expected, above all to avoid certain humiliating defeats, then not suffering till the last round. René Eijer's 4-3-3 system of play only partially worked for the attack, but definitively failed in defence which was by far the worst in the league with 80 goals suffered. That is why the club decided to make a change on the bench appointing young Sjors Ultee. The club has also decided to revolutionise the squad during the summer transfer market. Many important players were sold or left because of the loan’s end such as Rodriguez, El Messaoudi, Lamprou, Semedo, Mac-Intosch, Stokkers and so on. So far there were no major arrivals to replace them, only a bunch of promising but also very young and inexperienced players. The most interesting are striker Damascan on loan from Torino and Carbonell on loan from Valencia.

Target


The main goal is of course to avoid relegation, a feat certainly not easy considering the many new faces and the absolute inexperience of the coach.
