The 12 wins achieved were more than enough for safety. Despite doing a very good job since taking charge in October Algerian coach Zekri didn’t convince enough so this summer new manager was appointed. Englishman, last in charge of Oxford United, Des Buckingham is tasked to lead the team this season. He will have turbulent few weeks late in the summer transfer window as like many other smaller teams Al Kholood wait until late to find quality foreigners at a discount. Last year’s top goalscorer Muleka was among the several regulars to leave. The only new arrival so far is loaned in goalie Cozzano, expected to be the new number one. Al Kholood still have 5 open spaces for foreign players but at the time of writing the squad has only 14 field players, so a bulk of reinforcements can be expected soon. The success or failure of the season ahead will all depend on how good the newcomers will be and how fast they can settle. Taking a risk with an inexperienced manager like Buckingham is also a gamble that could go either way.
