Having been relegated from the Ligue 2 in 2021/2022, Nancy then found themselves losing professional status for the first time in their history. They managed to achieve promotion back to the second tier of French football at the third time of asking, though, at the end of the past campaign, during which they dominated the Championnat National. 58-year-old Pablo Correa, a legend at Nancy also in his days as a player, led them to their triumph after returning at the club the previous campaign in what is his third stint as a coach. Thus, they won their third title with the Uruguayan gaffer at the helm. It was clear right from the go that Nancy would have battled for promotion. In fact, they first hit the top in week 5 but would only start an unstoppable and triumphal march in week 15. With just 28 goals conceded, Nancy held the best defence while they also held the best attack, with 54 goals scored. Nancy have not been particularly active during the transfer campaign, both in terms of departures and new arrivals. Back-up goalie Giagnorio was let go but the new signing 30-year-old Basilio, arriving from Guingamp, could be preferred to Sourzac as the number 1 since the former has more Ligue 2 experience. They lost their sole starter in centre-back Thiare, who returned to his parent club, Le Havre. 20-year-old Fernandez was signed in from Dunkerque after a mixed season but could become a protagonist in the long run. Numerically they are a bit too short at the back. The midfield is the area where they saw most departures but Diaby left no mark last season while back-up Ebonog, also returning to Le Havre since his loan expired, did well when fielded. In the attack, they lost back-up winger Gomel, 7 goals and 2 assists last season, but this should represent no issue since they hired 19-year-old Ouotro, who left a good feeling both at Martigues and Seraing in the past campaign.

Target

Correa will have to make some miracles to keep Nancy at this level unless they strengthen themselves, especially at the back.
