After three seasons away Brommapojkarna are back in the Allsvenskan with a bang, having won the Superettan last year. But like fellow promoted side Trelleborgs their time away from the top flight has been no picnic. Their 2014 Allsvenskan relegation became a double whammy 12 months later, when they were relegated to the third tier of Swedish football, and they too have experienced back to back promotions since then to claim their place in the 2018 edition of the Allsvenskan. It will be their fourth stint in the top division, but the question remains whether they can steer clear of the bottom three this time around. Of their previous Allsvenskan campaigns Brommapojkarna's best finish is a modest 12th place back in 2009, and it would be a huge surprise if Luis Pimenta's side can replicate that or even better it. Pimenta is a charismatic coach who led Norwegian minnows Kongsvinger to an unlikely cup final a few seasons ago, and a lot will rely on his ability to keep getting the best out of a modest looking squad that has more steady performers than spectacular ones. The Stockholm based side have been in the shadows of AIK for a long time, and it's very unlikely that will change any time soon. But they have a small loyal following that will be excited to see their team battling it out with Sweden's best league teams again. But like fellow newly promoted sides, Brommapojkarna will know where their points will be won this season, and in which games they can play more freely because they have so little to lose. Pimenta will want his side to be competitive, and ride on the wave of positivity that finishing as Superettan champions last season will have given the squad.

Target

The target will be survival for Brommapojkarna this season, and only then will there be talk of consolidating a mid-table finish. They are one of the smaller fish in the Allsvenskan pond, and that will definitely show when up against better teams in the division. Pimenta's side will play with heart, but whether that is enough for survival remains to be seen. Prediction: 14th
