Ceará produced nothing short of a miracle last season: after an awful start (12 first rounds without victories), and several weeks on the bottom of the table, Ceará managed to have a fantastic last third and escaped relegation on the last rounds. The absolute three biggest references of the last season are gone: goalkeeper Everson left to join Santos, highly important midfielder Richardson moved to Japan and the star of the team Arthur saw his excellent season earn him a move to champions Palmeiras. Richard arrived to replace Everson after a good season at Paraná. Felipe Baxola traveled back from Japan. Roger arrived from Corinthians to re-launch his career and lead Ceara’s attack. Matheus Matias is at Ceara to have more minutes in top flight and show all his potential. Ceará will have to mostly rely on the backbone coming from last season. Samuel Xavier in defense and the four ‘inhos’ in midfield will be paramount on Ceará’s season. Coach Liscá was last season’s major reason for success. Keeping him on the club was a major boost. One of the biggest challenges for Cearenses will be on the medical department. Last season was stained by multiple injuries on key players. Tiago Alves, Quixadá and Pedro Ken have already spent more time on treatment than on the pitch this year.

Target

Ceará fans won’t be demanding much from the club. Avoiding relegation and hence assuring a third consecutive season on Série A will be an unmatched milestone on the club’s modern days.
