Dunfermline suffered mixed fortunes last season and eventually finished in 4th place. They started strongly and seemed like title contenders, but by mid-season they were well adrift of St Mirren and focussed on a play-off place. They were narrowly defeated by Dundee United in the play-offs despite running them close. With several notable departures the Pars are facing an uncertain forthcoming season. Dunfermline proved difficult to beat last season, but ultimately were too reliant on striker, Nicky Clark, for goals. Clark has now moved to rivals, Dundee United with striking partner, Declan McManus also leaving rivals Ross County. Other experienced regulars such as Joe Cardle and their captain, Callum Morrison, have also left East End Park. Heading into the Dunfermline squad are brothers, Jackson and Louis Longridge. Both have Championship experience and should fit in. Defender, Tom Beadling, has also made his loan move from Sunderland permanent. Like the rest of the teams in the Championship, Dunfermline are looking to make loan signings that could shape their season positively. Popular striker, Faissal El Bakhtaoui, has rejoined the Pars on a loan deal from Dundee. He could be an adequate replacement for Nicky Clark. Too many draws last season hurt the Pars’ title challenge. While Dunfermline feel they are a Premiership team in waiting, doubts exist if they can produce a sustained challenge. However, they should be more than capable of reaching the play-offs again.
