A season that promised much ended with Eintracht Frankfurt just about managing to finish seventh that ensured they will be playing in Europe next season. A strong first half of the season saw Frankfurt rise up to second at one point but a slump in form after the turn of the year saw them scrambling to secure a place in the Europa Conference League while also losing out to RB Leipzig in the DFB Cup final. The slump also proved to be costly for Oliver Glasner with the club confirming he would leave at the end of the campaign and Dino Toppmoller has since been appointed as his successor for the coming season. Glasner was reportedly not happy with the club's transfer policy and Toppmoller will be heading into the new season with three of the first choice players from last season. Daichi Kamada and Evan Ndicka have both left the club on free transfers to Lazio and Roma respectively while Djibril Sow has also been sold to Sevilla. Ndicka and Sow were both first choice for Glasner in the defense and the midfield and will be big misses for the club. Kamada did lose his place in the lineup after confirming he would leave at the end of the season but nevertheless was an important option last year. Frankfurt have spent much of their budget converting loans of Philipp Max, Ansgar Knauff and Dina Ebimbe into permanent moves and while they have spent a decent chunk on Willian Pacho and Hugo Larsson, the duo are young and unknown entities in the Bundesliga. Frankfurt have signed Omar Marmoush and Ellyes Skhiri on free transfers to provide some much needed experience while Robin Koch has been brought on loan to improve the depth in the defense. With Toppmoller taking charge of a Bundesliga club for the first time in his career and Frankfurt unable to upgrade on Sow and Ndicka, the new season is one of uncertainty for the club who will need their signings to click quickly if they are to stand any chance of challenging for Europe once again.

Target

Despite a troubled second half of the campaign, Frankfurt did secure a European spot last season and this will be the aim once again for Toppmoller along with a strong run in the cup competitions.
