Football Season Guide

Bundesliga debutants SC Paderborn will be hoping that they will emerge as the surprise packs of this season but face a difficult campaign ahead as they look to enjoy the experience of playing in the top flight of German football for the first time in their history. Paderborn enjoyed a historic season last time around, finishing second in the 2.Bundesliga to automatically gain promotion to the Bundesliga. This will be the first time that Paderborn will be competing in Bundesliga and Andre Breitenreiter's side are favorites for the drop even before the season has kicked off. Paderborn enjoyed a record breaking last season and apart from securing promotion to the Bundesliga, they also created new club records in terms of their total points haul and goals scored. Breitenreiter has not wasted any time in consolidating his squad, with last season's loan signing Elias Kachunga making his move permanent from Borussia Monchengladbach after impressing with six goals and 10 assists. Borussia Dortmund's Marvin Ducksch has also signed on with the club, providing Breitenreiter with some quality options up front. Lukas Rupp and Stefan Kutchke will provide Paderborn with some additional Bundesliga experience after being signed from Wolfsburg and Gladbach while Marvin Bakalorz's loan move has also been made permanent, with Breitenreiter ensuring that he will be keeping the side that secured promotion last season together on a more permanent basis. Despite all the signings, it remains to be seen whether Breitenreiter will be able to work his magic for a second successive season, though this time the target is surviving in the league
