Peterborough have become a yo-yo club over the last few years, and the Posh are back into the third tier after a two year stay in the Championship. They had a proper go in the Championship last season and were agonisingly close to surviving in the division, only to go down following a dramatic last day defeat to Crystal Palace. Chairman Darragh MacAnthony has displayed the sort of patience that he lacked earlier, as he opted to keep faith in Darren Ferguson despite the relegation. Ferguson is no stranger to delivering promotions, as he won a total of three promotions with the Posh so far, winning two promotions from League One and one promotion from League Two. One thing that will be very interesting to see is whether Ferguson will once again opt for the all-attack approach he used in his side's previous stay in League One, or instead stick with the more conservative approach that he adopted in the Championship during the previous season. The Posh have been quiet on the transfer market - the only arrival is the talented Jack Payne, while the significant departures are George Boyd, who's loan move to Hull has been turned into a permanent transfer, and of course Dwight Gayle, who left to join Crystal Palace after an amazing season with the Posh. Despite Gayle's departure, the Posh have plenty of players who can find the net in League One, with a particularly important attribute of theirs being that they have several midfielders that are capable of chipping in with five or more goals over the course of the season. Their squad is certainly one of the best in the division and, with a proven manager in Ferguson, they will be among the favorites to go up.

Target

Anything other than a straight return to the Championship would be considered a failure. They lost a key player in Gayle, but still have plenty of quality in their side, and seem to be among the three or four biggest favorites for promotion.
