Last season was a tough for Queen’s Park, with issues off the pitch adding to inconsistent performances on it. The sale of Hampden Park to the Scottish F.A. was a controversial one for one of the older amateur football clubs in the world and it set to hasten their departure from the famous national stadium. Whilst preparations are made to make Lesser Hampden Park suitable, the Spiders will be hoping to get themselves out of a tangle and make a concerted challenge for the play-offs. Mark Roberts was handed the task of taking over from the experience Gus MacPherson and it took him time to get to grips with it. More talented youngsters were handed their bow but the side struggled to find any consistency. It has been a difficult summer too with the blow of losing the driving force of the team in midfielders Jamie McKernon and Kurtis Roberts. 17-year-old striker Michael Ruth has been snapped up by Aberdeen whilst teenage winger Euan East has been surprisingly allowed to leave and join Albion Rovers. Roberts has made several additions to his squad and the return of goalkeeper Willie Muir for a third spell at Hampden Park is a real fillip. Defender Cameron Clark and midfielder Jack Purdue arrive with experience at a higher level whilst striker Salim Kouider-Aïssa will be hoping to carry on his excellent form after signing from Kilsyth Rangers.

Target

Top-half. Roberts might need a full season to create a squad capable of challenging for the play-offs.
