Stenhousemuir were unable to make the step up to League 1 and returned to League 2 after just one season. Manager Brown Ferguson took the Warriors back up via the play-offs but was sacked before Christmas with the side struggling at the wrong end of the table. The appointment of striker Colin McMenamin failed to pay off and they were comfortably beaten over two legs in a play-off semi-final by Annan Athletic. McMenamin is likely to concentrate on his managerial duties next season and has spent the summer clearing out the dead wood and building his own team. The departures of full-back Ruaridh Donaldson and midfielders Mark Ferry and Sean Dickson are something of a surprise however given they were regulars last season. The two crucial figures in goalkeeper Graeme Smith and strike Mark McGuigan are both signed up again for next season and they will be integral to any success at Ochilview Park. Midfielder Jamie McKernon looks a shrewd addition from Queen’s Park whilst defender Chris Neil brings plenty of experience with him from Airdrie. Several of the new arrivals have yet to prove themselves in the Football League and McMenamin faces a challenge in coalescing them into a cohesive team. Having become something of a yo-yo team, a season of consolidation might do the Warriors some good.

Target

Play-offs. Stenhousemuir should be challenging for the top four and they will always have hope with McGuigan leading their attack.
