Football Season Guide

Sergey Tashuev was able to guide Akhmat Grozny to one of their best ever top flight finishes as they secured a fifth-place finish last season. Akhmat will be looking to continue in their upward trajectory as Tashuev is set for another season in charge. Not much has changed with the squad but the club have brought in a couple of defensive reinforcements in Vladislav Volkov and Jasmin Celikovic. There have been a few departures but the only real one of note is the loss of Aleksandr Troshechkin who has joined Nizhny Novgorod. Other than that, the lineup should look pretty similar for next season. Defender Zoran Nizic has been released and Vladislav Karupuzov has returned to parent club Dinamo Moscow following the end of his loan spell. Lechi Sadulaev was named as Akhmat's Player of the Season for the 2022/23 campaign and he will be looking to bounce back from an injury suffered towards the tail end of last season. Forward Mohamed Konate managed to score 11 Russian Premier League goals last season and, coupled with Gamid Agalarov, the club have a strong attack. There may be some issues in terms of depth in the midfield after the departures of Troshechkin and Karapuzov. Akhmat are yet to bring in any additions in the middle of the park.
