Wrexham have endured a couple of woeful seasons of late and will be full of motivation to leave that behind them and launch a serious challenge for promotion again. The Dragons never managed to find the required quality and consistency to go close to the top five last season as Kevin Wilkin proved incapable of handling the pressure of managing a side like the Dragons, where the expectations are high and the fans demanding. He was sacked a month before the end of the season after a dreadful FA Trophy final defeat at the hands of North Ferriby. There is now renewed optimism among the Welsh club’s fans as Gary Mills accepted the challenge to lead the club in their bid for promotion. Mills is probably the most in-demand and respected manager in the non-league level given the way his previous teams developed. He did wonders at both Tamworth and York before and was lauded for the work put in at Gateshead over the last two seasons as well. Getting him on board is a major coup for Wrexham and the aim of the entire club now should be to make quick progress and establish the Dragons as a genuine contender for promotion. It will be a tough battle at the top end of the table as there are lots of strong sides, but it is all to play for and the manager will be fully focused and motivated to mould the side in his own image. Most of the transfer business has been done early in the close season as the likes of Adriano Moke, Dominic Vose and Javan Vidal were all snapped up after excellent campaigns with their modest teams in the previous season. Cameron Belford and Sean Newton are two of the other more impressive signings made in the summer. There has been something of a clear-out undertaken by the new man in charge as established players in the side like Neil Ashton, Dean Keates, Jay Harris, Joe Clarke and Andy Bishop are no longer around, having been ever-presents for the past three of four years. It will be certainly a different-looking Wrexham side than the one from recent seasons but Mills will work hard to integrate the new players and mould a coherent and homogenous side. It will be a tall order to challenge for promotion but all is in place to at least give it a good go and a better season is anticipated by the passionate Wrexham fans.

Have an excellent new manager and will aim for promotion but it is likely to be too much of an ask to make the top-five.
