In Brief

Slightly lucky 0-1 win over Peru on Saturday. Kvist broke his rib in the first World Cup match. Schone and Krohn-Dehli will provide options for the midfield.

Looking Back

Denmark's first match in Russia turned out into a success as Yussuf Poulsen's second half goal against Peru earned Age Hareide's men the full reward. It was a rather lucky outcome for the Danish outfit though as Peru deserved at least a point out of this game.

However, Peru midfielder Christian Cueva failed to open the score from the spot towards the end of the first half, while Kasper Schmeichel grabbed this moment to shine. The goalie became the man of the match after producing some excellent saves after the break.

Looking Ahead

Hareide will have to deal with an important injury already after one game as William Kvist won't be able to complete the midfield in this match. The FC Copenhagen midfielder is struggling with two broken ribs and a punctured lung at the moment and he will miss the game as a result.

There will be several options available for Hareide to deal with this problem, but starting with the experienced Lasse Schone seems like the best response. Schone already replaced Kvist in the last game after 36 minutes of play. Michael Krohn-Dehli, another veteran within the squad, will push for a chance as well.

Hareide isn't expected to make surprising changes for this one as his team produced a decent performance against Peru. The coach is set to start with the same formation, but Kvist won't start as mentioned before.

Points of Interest

Denmark managed to keep five clean sheets in their last five matches, which is impressive to say the least.

In Brief

Narrow 2-1 defeat against France in the opening game on Saturday. Jedinak is set to make another appearance, Luongo could start on the bench again.

Looking Back

Australia came close to producing an upset in their opening game against France, but two VAR decisions proved to be fatal for Bert van Marwijk's men. The Socceroos were able to keep up with France for most of the time, but it wasn't enough to prevent the defeat.

The new VAR system definitely frustrated Australia to say the least. The first review earned the French a penalty kick, while the second one confirmed that Paul Pogba's attempt crossed the line after hitting the crossbar. The Australians produced a performance to be proud of, but the defeat put the pressure on the team as they will have to bounce back against Denmark and Peru to prevent the early knock-out.

Looking Ahead

The last position on the midfield remains the point of a discussion at the moment. Mile Jedinak regained his starting spot against France and he could make another appearance, but Massimo Lungo will push for minutes as well. The latter will come in if Van Marwijk decides to focus more on the attack.

The last line-up didn't include big surprises and Van Marwijk is set to award the same players with starts again. Jedinak and Luongo will have to convince the staff to claim minutes, but the other starters should get another chance to show their skills.

The striker spot could contain a fresh face as Jamie Maclaren could get the nod in attack based on the last training sessions. Andrew Nabbout would drop to the bench in that case.

Points of Interest

Aziz Behich, Matthew Leckie and Joshua Risdon picked up a yellow card in the match against France. Another booking will prevent them from facing Peru.
