In Brief

Alves is injured while Neymar is considered a doubt.

Looking Back

Suffered a deflating start of the World Cup campaign after letting Switzerland fight their way back from a goal down to earn a 1:1 draw in Rostov on Sunday. The Samba Boys started brilliantly and took a deserved lead but seemed to get a bit too complacent.

The equaliser by the Swiss came out of nowhere in the second half and really knocked Brazil out for a bit. There was a late surge from Tite's men but they just could not muster enough in the final third and were left with just a point for their efforts.

Looking Ahead

Now have no option but to hammer a limited Costa Rica side to get back on the winning trail. The manager will not be making too many drastic changes after one sluggish performance but will be expecting his men to deliver more energy and attacking drive when needed against an opponent that will pack five at the back and will look to waste time by any means.

It was a full squad for the game against the Swiss as a number of players overcame minor knocks to be available in the squad for the clash. Only Dani Alves remains sidelined for the long term but otherwise Tite has no injury headaches at the moment. That said, Neymar was spotted limping after training during the week but looks set to be fit for the game and Tite is likely to name an unchanged 11.

In Brief

No fresh injury concerns and only Meneses and Salvatierra are sidelined.

Looking Back

Endured a drab start to the World Cup campaign as Serbia defeated them 1:0 on Sunday. Costa Rica were, as expected, focused on defending and maximising their chances on the odd counter. Yet they lacked pace and incisiveness in the final third and offered next to nothing as they chased an equaliser.

Looking Ahead

Face a daunting and mammoth challenge in the next group game when taking on a Brazil side that will be desperate for a win. Oscar Ramirez will be hoping that his players summon the spirit and dedication to defending that helped them in 2014, when they upset Uruguay and Italy before nearly reaching the semi-finals.

The manager does not have too many weapons to call upon from the bench and there will be one change in the side compared to the last game, with Bryan Oviedo coming in at left-back. There are no fresh injury concerns and only defenders Cristian Meneses and Jose Salvatierra are injured.

Points of Interest

Costa Rica faced Brazil in the World Cup in 2002 and were beaten 2:5 back then.
