Spain top Group B following a 3-3 draw with Portugal and a 1-0 win over Iran. Their lead is very slim, however, as they are only ahead of Portugal because of the fair play ranking, as they have one yellow card fewer.
The World Cup campaign has so far been positive for Spain, considering the turmoil they'd gone through in the days before the tournament, with coach Julen Lopetegui sacked after accepting the Real Madrid job. Sporting director Fernando Hierro was made coach and has kept the show on the road.
