In Brief

Beaten 1-0 at home by neo-promoted Parma despite dominating. Hope in a reaction at home to Tottenham in Champions League in order to redeem their beginning of season. Joao Mario, Gagliardini and Dalbert ineligible. Vrsaljko unavailable. D'Ambrosio in the squad. Martinez still absent.

Looking Back

Inter keep on underperforming and disappointing. Despite literally dominating the home clash against neo-promoted Parma, they even closed the first half with a 75% ball control, they failed to score any goals. Having tried to hit the back of the net thanks to long distance shots during the first part of the game, they tried increasing their aggressiveness after the break but things improved only slightly. And in the end they even had to concede, thus losing all three points.

Brozovic confirmed that he is a protagonist, initiating all the attacks for his side. Dalbert played one of the few positive matches since joining Inter, enjoying an easy life on the left flank. Perisic was the most dangerous for Inter, giving Iacoponi a hard time. Keita proved to be useless, wasting the only big chance he really had. Unlike his previous performance, when he was decisive, Nainggolan failed to make the difference, wasting too many shots.

Looking Ahead

Having won only one official game since the beginning of the season, Inter aim at a reaction in occasion of their debut in the Champions League Group stage, at home to Tottenham.

Vrsaljko will sit this one out. D'Ambrosio picked up a knock at the weekend but it was less serious than expected and he was included in the 18-man squad. Martinez is still absent after sitting the last couple of games out.

Joao Mario, Dalbert and Gagliardini are ineligible for the competition.

Inter should opt for a back three. If deemed fit enough to play, D'Ambrosio could represent an alternative to Candreva on the right flank of the midfied.

Points of Interest

Inter already hosted Tottenham twice in the European competitions. In the Group stage of the 2010/2011 Champions League, they won 4-3 whilst in the Round of 16 of the Europa League 2012/2013 they obtained a 4-1 success after the extra times.

In Brief

Mood is not great after back-to-back domestic defeats. Many players already showing signs of fatigue. Hugo Lloris, Vincent Janssen and Juan Foyth sidelined. Moussa Sissoko and Dele Alli also ruled out. Kieran Trippier and Toby Alderweireld to be rested.

Looking Back

Tottenham were very poor at the weekend when lucky to lose just 1:2 at home vs. Liverpool. Once again Kane looked sluggish in attack, but many other players also played bad and this was arguably Spurs’ worst display in over a year.

Back-to-back domestic defeats and mixed Champions League record on the road (4 wins, 5 draws and 4 defeats) don’t give the players much confidence. On top of that with 8 squad members going deep in the World Cup this summer it is no surprise that Spurs so far have looked tired and laboured past the hour mark in pretty much all of their games.

Looking Ahead

Coach Pochettino will definitely be making changes to his line-up as he needs to rest players. So far he keeps rotating the formation too and it seems that this time he might go for three at the back, which should see Sanchez involved from the off.

Son, Wanyama, Aurier and Davies are four other players very likely to be picked from the off on Tuesday.

Sissoko and Alli failed to recover on time for this trip, while Lloris, Janssen and Foyth remain in rehabilitation.

Both Trippier and Alderweireld looked tired and sluggish on Saturday and in order to get some much-needed rest they were left back in London.

Points of Interest

The sides were in the same Champions League group back in the 2010/11 season when they exchanged home wins – 4:3 for Inter in Italy and 3:1 for Spurs in England.
