Game Report

Highlights

A weakened Barcelona team thrashed Dynamo Kyiv 4-0 thanks to four second half goals, with Sergino Dest opening the scoring, Martin Braithwaite netting two and Antoine Griezmann coming off the bench for a late fourth.

Detail

Barcelona played a significantly weakened line-up, as a result of injury and resting players. They only had three of their usual starters in the line-up.

They're still Barcelona, though, and that Barca DNA saw them dominate possession. But, they couldn't create much in the first half against a well-organised Dynamo Kyiv back line.

Early in the second half, Dest found some space after bursting into the box and finished. That brought confidence to Barcelona and forced Dynamo Kyiv to come out a little, leaving space behind.

It opened the floodgates, with Braithwaite then scoring two in quick succession, one at a corner and then a penalty that he himself won.

Barcelona were then fully comfortable and made some substitutions to rest other players and give a couple more debuts out to Matheus Fernandes and Konrad, in addition to Oscar Mingueza, who debuted by starting at centre-back.

By that point, Dynamo Kyiv's heads were down and not much happened as the clock wound down. But, in stoppage time, Griezmann grabbed a goal to polish off the victory.

Summary

Barcelona were certainly the better side in this one, but the 4-0 scoreline perhaps flatters them a little. Dynamo Kyiv created almost nothing in attack, but defended better than the scoreline suggests.
