In Brief

A return to the 4-1-2-1-2 is possible. Schnegg may be impacted by criticism. Horvat and Boving may be on the bench. Hierlander and Teixeira return. Lavalee eligible to play but may not be risked.

Looking Back

Defeated part-timers SV Licht Loidl Lafnitz 3-1 in a friendly during the international break despite significantly rotating. Notable for Borkovic, Hierlander, and Teixeira's return, and Lavalee's unofficial debut.

Were rather lucky to win against SCR Altach before the international break. Were under the cosh for long periods, and only more incisive finishing saved their bacon.

Looking Ahead

Regular LB Schnegg was subjected to damning criticism from Austria manager Rangnick during his international debut, accusing him of being overweight. Club manager Ilzer raced to defend his player. Unclear if Schnegg will take his game to a new level here as a consequence, or whether he'll lose his way and end up on the bench. Could even result in an LB issue with Dante only having returned from international duty on Thursday.

Adopted a 4-2-3-1 for the trip to Altach in their last Bundesliga match but they looked awkward in it. May revert to the more familiar 4-1-2-1-2 here. Boving and Horvat may be benched as a consequence of such.

Unclear if new signing Lavalee will make his official debut here or not despite now having a work visa. Did feature in a recent friendly but the team needs cohesion for a game against the best team in the country.

Rotation options Dermaku and Johnston could be omitted.

New attacker Jatta is now injured until late October/November or so, which could leave them short of options in terms of creativity.

Midfield regular Hierlander returns from injury, as does rotation attacker Teixeira.

In Brief

Sucic/Capaldo/Diambou/Guindo/Ratkov/Solet may return. New injury for Fernando. Forson may be benched. CB could be an issue with Piatkowski/Pavlovic 50/50.

Looking Back

Easily overcame Rapid Vienna in their big derby before the international break. Their manager was quite critical of his team for only winning 2-0, given Rapid's absentees.

Looking Ahead

Just when defensive regular Solet and rotation defender Morgalla returned to training, they now risk losing Piatkowski and Pavlovic because of illness. Ulmer may slot in at CB. Not ideal against a very good opponent.

Rotation options Yeo and Omoregie are injured. Neither are missed.

Attack is still a slight problem with Fernando having picked up a new injury; unclear how serious but shouldn't be missed as Konate has been phenomenal. Besides, Sucic and Ratkov are back in training. It may be too early for Koita to think about starting - a bench role is likelier.

Backup CB Okoh suffered a bad injury in the game against Internazionale, and may not play again in 2023. Young defender Wallner isn't back yet but should be soon; not a problem.

Midfield regular Capaldo. backup CM Diambou are back in training.

Gloukh's outstanding form may again force Forson to the bench.

Points of Interest

Have won every Bundesliga game they've played in this season, despite being without as many as fifteen players on occasion.
