Football Season Review

№8: Coventry City

Coventry managed to return to League One only a year after being relegated and that gave their fans reasons to be pleased, as it was the Sky Blues' first promotion since the 1970s. Mark Robins's side entered the season with their main goal being to stay far away from the relegation places and it is a goal that they easily achieved, as they ended up narrowly missing out on a play-off place. They had brief stays inside the top six during the campaign, but spent the majority of it in the midtable places, which is where they ultimately finished. They had no major ups or downs in form over the course of the season. The Sky Blues kept playing attacking football, with their 5:4 win at Sunderland late in the season summing up what they are about, while Robins stayed true to his philosophy of promoting youth, with several players having their breakthrough seasons. While they can be very pleased with how their league campaign has gone, the Sky Blues still have off field problems. They are yet to reach an agreement with the owners of the Ricoh Arena to play there next season, and could end up playing in a different ground.
