Football Season Review

№9: Eintracht Frankfurt

An inconsistent campaign ended on a positive note for Eintracht Frankfurt who finished in the top half of the league table though falling short of securing a European qualification spot. Frankfurt started the campaign on a strong note, losing just two of their opening eight games but quickly lost their way midway through the season. The Eagles struggled to keep teams out and despite finding the back of the net with some regularity, they could only pick up just one point from seven games from November to the winter break. A brief return to form was followed by another slump before a strong end to the season, which saw them win five and lose just one of their final eight games to finish ninth in the league table. Kostic was once again the main creator for Frankfurt, ending the campaign with 11 assists and was one of the only two players who made more than 30 appearances in the league. Andre Silva was the top scorer but struggled to nail down a regular place in the lineup, making only 16 starts. With Hutter unconvinced by Silva as well as Dost and Paciencia, Frankfurt will need a more reliable goal-scorer while they will also have to reinforce at the back if they are to enjoy a better campaign next season
