Football Season Review

№9: Orebro

Orebro won't be too unhappy with their season with Axel Kjall's side never ever flirting with relegation this year and finishing a solid ninth. The ten point gap up to the top half of the table and Elfsborg in eighth will be a cause for concern though but Orebro are happy to plod along as a mid-table club and did a very good job of it this year to be fair. They suffered badly once Carlos Strandberg left them in the summer, as the on loan Malmo striker was a revelation for them and a worthy replacement for Kennedy Igboananike up front. Viktor Prodell struggled more in comparison and goals were very hard to come by. They started the season disastrously with defeat to Falkenbergs and a draw against AFC Eskilstuna, but a sensational 2-1 win over then champions AIK restored belief and the arrows started moving upwards. The two games in July against Falkenbergs and Helsingborg saw the side score eight goals, but the autumn results were far less convincing. Orebro will want to build on the relative success of the 2019 campaign, and will hope they can do so with some smart player recruitment. They quickly announced which players would not be hanging around and have already started to plan for another Allsvenskan season. As long as they are competitive for most of the games, and avoid any relegation battles, Orebro seem happy with their mid-table existence. And that doesn't look likely to change any time soon.
