Aldershot look in a much better state as a club at the moment, compared to 12 months ago, and look with anticipation to the upcoming campaign. They were a shambles after the relegation from the Football League before the start of last season. They were in administration and with barely enough players to start the season, along with a ten-point deduction. Andy Scott has managed to steer them clear of the drop zone, not without a number of stutters, and they will be looking to the higher echelons of the table for the forthcoming campaign. The Shots have now exited administration, two years ahead of schedule, thanks to sound financial management in the past year, and the worst seems to be behind them. On the footballing side of things, Scott is developing a much more competitive side this year and will be certainly aiming for the upper half of the table. He has managed to sign some decent players over the summer and there is more competition and variety in the squad as a whole. Glen Morris and Craig Stanley are notable losses from last season’s squad but the manager bought in well and early and the expectation is that Aldershot will be one of the better prepared teams in the division. Glen Wilson is a very solid and versatile defender while Dan Fitchett is a capable and lively striker, who attracted Football League interest last season. Sam Hatton and Damon Lathrope are good additions to the squad as well and generally Aldershot now feel like an upwardly mobile club that will be going places. That said, they still lack a bit of stardust to really challenge for promotion and may have to settle for a place in the top ten in the coming campaign.

Target

Will look to trouble the teams in the higher end of the table but look a tad unprepared for a play-off push yet.
